The IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) has welcomed the tough stance on dangerous
driving but stressed that enforcement is still the key.
The vast majority of law abiding drivers will be pleased to see the Government’s commitment to clamping down on dangerous driving.
“The key to ensuring that any new laws are effective in reducing deaths on the roads will be high profile enforcement,” said IAM Policy Director Neil Greig.
“Dangerous driving cannot be enforced by camera and more traffic police will be needed to catch those drivers who flaunt the law.”
The IAM believes that the range of offences and penalties now available will allow courts and prosecution authorities to choose the right offence first time, every time.
